Rasa Sanje is a well known dance festival organised by Guru smt Radha Shridhar. It's been a divine and surreal opportunity to have performed in this dance festival. I have presented one of my own choreography Kalinga Narthanam

Kalinga Narthanam
Raga – Punnagavarali ; Tala – Adi; Composition –Madhurai R Muralidharan ; Dance composition- Yagnika Madhusudan.

A beautiful and a creative composition of Madhurai R muralidaran describes a detailed scene of Kalinga narthanam. The dancer describes a detailed scene of Kalinga and Krishna. The characters are established with rhythm patterns and beautiful sahityam. Everybody is in praise of our parandaman mukundan all their kula is happily praising him. Dancer describes how the snake is hiding and waiting for Krishna to appear and how the snake’s body is curving as a preparation. Then the creepers bear fruit like how a damsel stands. It’s almost as if the flowers and fruits are waiting to witness this. Not only the plants but also the cows are drawn to see this, the birds that were happily singing have now fallen to earth to witness this. The energies are drifting apart to witness and the beauties who were bathing and playing in water have now forgotten everything else and are waiting for Krishna. Krishna playfully appears and dances there with powerful movements and rhythm, the snake which sees this is taken by surprise. It opens its 100 heads to attack but Krishna playfully jumps and dances around on these 100 heads. He then climbs on the snake’s head for fun. The snake starts attacking Krishna by opening his hood. But Krishna holds him by the hand dances with it. The snake is consumed by arrogance, and he forgets his true self, a self which belongs to the paramatma. And is consumed by anger. The nada increases and the snake is consumed by the nada. Then Krishna destroys the arrogance in him and teaches him a lesson then Kalingan realizes who he truly is and submits to God Vishnu. He remembers him being the bed of God Vishnu. The one who witness this and understand this are the truly blessed they have opened their steps to vaikuntam. In a deeper sense we can understand that there is a kalinga in every one of us which who is consumed by arrogance who forgets the true self.

Quoting from Bhagavad gita :

क्रोधाद्भवति संमोहः संमोहात्स्मृतिविभ्रमः।
स्मृतिभ्रंशाद् बुद्धिनाशो बुद्धिनाशात्प्रणश्यति।

When anger consumes us we forget who we truly are when we forget this anger destroys us. Our true self is our essence. It is our life’s journey to reach to this truth. A beautiful divine journey for each one of us.
