First appearing in The Transformers in 1984, *Shockwave is the Decepticon’s cold and calculating mad scientist.* Tasked with keeping Cybertron under Decepticon rule, Shockwave would create Space Bridge technology and aid Megatron from light years away. The Marvel Comics Continuity portrays him as a logic-driven leader, seizing command post-Megatron. Here he’d invade the Ark, butcher Optimus Prime and the Autobots for parts, and exploit the Creation Matrix to buid the Constructicons. While Decepticon leadership would change yet again, *this would just be the beginning of Shockwave’s reign of terror.*

In the Aligned Continuity, he’d attempt to create life, with the cloning of the Predacons and forced experimentation on Grimlock and his team. Animated finds him masquerading as Longarm Prime, acting as a double agent for the Decepticons. However, IDW shows how terrifying he can be.

Subjected to disfigurement and the removal of his emotional centers by the Senate, Shockwave would begin his journey to fulfill the Dark Cybertron prophecy. In an attempt to create a singularity, he’d seed worlds with reality warping Energon ores and siphon energy from the Dead Universe. Defeated by the combined efforts of Megatron and Optimus Prime, he’d be sent back in time and rewrite history as Onyx Prime, taking millions of years orchestrate another attempt at shaping reality.
