Other 'stang stuff    • 1999 Ford Mustang

I just turned on the camera and just went for it, to success, but not without a snafu or two.

Even if you're not installing a splitter at all, put that header panel repair kit in regardless. F'reals.

Complete install how-to for Carter's Customs street splitter for New Edge V6/GT/Mach 1 models, or at least ones with that bumper. Other submodels would install similarly. I made this video because you will not receive instructions with this part. But with a drill and few hand tools and patience, you can do it too. Follow the video through for the complete install job from start to finish, and this includes installing the header panel repair kit found on the LMR (Late Model Restoration) website, but other 'Stang sites may have this very kit too.

TOOLS NEEDED:

Header panel kit:

1/4 or 3/8 drive ratchet
8mm or 5/16 inch socket (they're practically same)
4mm allen key
11mm or 7/16 open- or box-end wrench
flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool
drill with 3/8 chuck
1/4 inch drill bit
3/8 inch drill bit (in case of misaligned hole, as shown in vid)

Front splitter:

Masking tape
Floor jack + jack stands OR ramps to elevate front end
impact drill is handy, or ratchet is good
11mm or 7/16 socket
11mm or 7/16 open- or box-end wrench
