Al Pacino and Brian DePalma hook up again for another violent crime drama. Although not as great as Scarface this certainly has many memorable moments. Ebert seems to empathize with Carlito's efforts to turn his life around after a life of crime. Gene isn't so kind, it really seems like he just wants to find flaws in every movie instead of enjoy them for pure entertainment value. Maybe he'd like it if it was called Gene's Way.
