Gobind Singh was a soldier in the British Indian Army during the first world war. During an attack on the German Kildare trench in France, he displayed unmatched bravery and carried critical messages from his regiment to Brigade HQ and cheated death 3 times. For his unprecedented act of bravery, he was one of the first Indian soldiers to be awarded the Victoria Cross - the highest gallantry award in Britain.
