About "Lotte Haus"

“Lotte Haus” is a 1-hour film and branded series involving an international co-production between Germany and Korea. The project draws thematic inspiration from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, particularly from The Sorrows of Young Werther. Filmmaker Young Man Kang was inspired after seeing Goethe’s book inside the Lottehaus, leading him to develop the story and collaborate with German producer Csongor Dobrotka. Over the years, the series has been invited to more than 40 international film festivals and has won 15 awards.


About The 250th anniversary of the publication of "The Sorrows of Young Werther"

It is the 250th anniversary of the first publication of Goethe's epistolary novel "The Sorrows of Young Werther" (1774). In the summer of 1772, at the age of 23, Johann Wolfgang Goethe came to Wetzlar as a trainee. He wrote his epistolary novel within four weeks, which quickly became the first bestseller in literary history.
The city of Wetzlar is celebrating this important anniversary with an extensive series of events. These events in Wetzlar appeal to various target groups, tourists, and make the young Goethe "memorable" for everyone around the world.
Meanwhile, Korean company LOTTE Corporation will have a booth to exhibit its founder Shin Kyuk Ho's copy of the book "The Sorrows of Young Werther," which he read when he was young. This original book will be displayed, along with LOTTE food products, goods, a Lotte World Tower miniature, and more at the 250th Anniversary of Goethe’s Werther Museum.
