The main character of Kyoto Chishin this time is KENJI HORII, a Japanese lacquer craft artist.

A dessert knife named "IRODORI" that can cut easily crumbling confectionery.
As the name suggests, the handle is lacquered with mother-of-pearl Japanese lacquer work that gives it a different shine depending on the angle you look at it. In Japanese lacquer work, there is an established division of labor among woodturners, lacquerers, lacquer artist artists, and CHINKIN masters, among which HORII is active as a RADEN master.

What HORII values in creating products is not only originality, but also consideration for the people who will use them, and making them easy to incorporate into their lives.
As a result of these thoughts, the "forged titanium cutlery" made by HORII was selected as the semi-grand prix of the "Kyoto Youth Competition 2021", a competition for "Kyoto things" suitable for modern lifestyles.

HORII also has a face as a knife craftsman. Started making knives in the third year of junior high school, and has been making knives for about 20 years. In Kyoto, he is also active as a host of knife shows.
