Halifax Borough Market was completed around 1896, and a rare feature of the structure was two streets of houses on the roof.
Known today as The Streets in the Sky, they were created to be lived in by the market traders who would then only have to go up and down stairs to get to work and hone again.
Over the decades, people moved away, businesses changed hands and the houses became storage rooms instead of being lived in, but by around 2000 there were none left lived in (though, today, just one is occupued)

Not easy to film on a tour, so this is just a rare taster of a forgotten secret in Halifax, and a fabulous piece of history.
