In February Andrea and I hiked with good friends Debbie, Mike (“Marmalade”), and Mike (“The Hiking Rev”) on the PCT from Barrel Springs, mile 101 southbound to mile 77, Scissors Crossing. This backpack trip is a perfect overnight with an easy car shuttle between the start and end point. Plenty of water at the Trail Angel maintained 3rd gate Water Cache with ample places to camp nearby. Views of the surrounding desert and mountains are abundant. Plenty of parking at Mile 101 along Montezuma Valley Road and at mile 77 Scissors Crossing parking lot, a short 15-minute drive between the two. 22.5 Miles, 1500’ elevation gain as measured by Gaia GPS on my iPhone.
