This video is about making a pressure washer connector to join the lance on a Gernie Washer to a Tradetools underbody cleaning wand. The connector has a quarter inch National Pipe Taper thread at one end, and a spigot to fit the Gernie lance at the other.

On the lathe, the usual techniques for machining a taper thread are to either use a taper turning attachment on the cross slide, or to offset the tail stock and run the bar at the angle between centres. The technique used here, requires none of that, once the taper is set on the compound slide, no further alterations to the lathe’s normal running is needed. It is an unconventional, but old technique of adjusting the thread depth to match the taper.
