With my wife Dace we traveled to the other side of the map again and we are in Armenia, a country in the Caucasus region. Join us, we are going to walk its streets to see what happens and share it with you.
Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, is an intriguing, different city with a rich history and a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Yerevan is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with a history dating back more than 2,800 years. It has witnessed various cultures and has been the capital of Armenia since 1918.
We have walked a lot because the city is not small and although public transport is cheap, we like to go slowly. Yerevan combines a variety of architectural styles, from old historical buildings to modern constructions, but always with an aesthetic line of austere sobriety.
The city center is dominated by Soviet architecture, with wide avenues, high-rise buildings, and iconic monuments. You can also find ancient churches and cathedrals that reflect the rich Christian heritage of Armenia.
In one of the turns we have found a very pleasant corner with wide tree-lined avenues and charming shops, which is what we are mostly sharing in this video. Each city has its place where you can enjoy a feast for the eyes.
Republic Square is the heart of the city, known for its impressive architecture and musical fountain. It is a popular place to walk, relax and enjoy cultural events.
Yerevan is known for its intense cultural and artistic scene. The city is home to a number of museums, art galleries, theaters and concert halls where exhibitions, events and cultural festivals are regularly held.
Food in Yerevan is a delight for lovers of Armenian cuisine. The city has a wide variety of restaurants and cafes where you can try traditional Armenian dishes, such as lavash, which is a flatbread, dolma, made from stuffed vine leaves, and the cheese bread khachapuri, also popular in neighboring Georgia.
Yerevan also has a lively nightlife, with a large number of bars, clubs and cafes offering entertainment for all tastes. The city is especially known for its outdoor cafes, where residents and visitors alike can enjoy drinks and socialize.
