令和5年（2023年）7月23日（日）に、堺市立大浜体育館で開催した、第13回糸東流国際空手道競技大会、組手競技の様子をお届けします（前編）。
糸東流国際空手道競技大会は、1997年から2年間の間隔により、日本と海外で交互に行われてまいりました。ところが2020年に世界中でコロナウイルス感染症がまん延した結果、当初予定されていた日本での「糸東流国際空手道競技大会」も2度にわたり延期となりました。この間、新しく糸東流空手道の世界に魅せられ入門された方もいることでしょう。久しぶりにお会いする方々も、そして新しくお見えになる皆さまもご一緒に、本大会を機に、また新たな第一歩を踏み出したいと思います。
今回、11の国々から来日され、師範、練習生が一堂に会する国際大会は、まさに人類共通の願いでもある多様で心豊かな社会の実現につながる舞台です。二世宗家 摩文仁 賢三から受け継いだ「五道心」を根幹に据えた、心に残る大会にして参りたいと思います。　
The 13th Shito-Ryu International Karatedo Tournament held at Sakai Municipal Ohama Gymnasium on Sunday, July 23, 2023 (Kumite：Part 1).
Since 1997, the Shito-Ryu International Karate Tournament has been held alternately in Japan and overseas at intervals of two years. However, as a result of the worldwide spread of coronavirus infections in 2020, the originally scheduled Shito-Ryu International Karate Tournament in Japan was postponed twice. During this time, there must have been some people who were fascinated by the world of Shito-ryu Karatedo and became a disciple.
I would like to take this tournament as an opportunity to take a new first step together with those who have not met in a long time and those who are new.
This time, the international competition, where instructors and trainees from 11 countries will come together, is a stage that will lead to the realization of a diverse and spiritually rich society, which is a common desire of all humankind. I would like to make this tournament a memorable one, based on the "Five Spirits" inherited from Kenzo Mabuni.
