Tips from experience of survicing 6 day or more power outages with home generators. I've learned a 110 Volt, 2,000 Watt can get you by with extension cords, but requires resource management to ration power. Top power goes to refridgerator, freezer, furnace fan motor (gas furnace), lighting, then TV and cable box. If you want to tun a microwave oven, you will need to disconnect all the appliances temporarily in order to run the microwave oven.
Tips on how to use power cables, and fuel.
Have 48 hours of fuel avaiable for the first two days of the outage.
Use Stabil fuel treatment when you store the fuel.
On the last tank of fuel, run Techoline fuel additive, and then run the generator dry so that it does not get clossed with Ethanol.
