Mississippi State University Department of Music and College of Education formally announced its All-Steinway Initiative April 24, 2015, with a public display of the first purchased pianos donated through an estate gift from the late Scarvia Bateman Anderson of Melbourne Beach, Fla., a 1945 MSU education alumna. The celebration marked the formal beginning of the university's commitment to make the Department of Music an All-Steinway School. Currently, the department has 17 new pianos, including a new Steinway Spirilor B – the only one in any SEC School.
