In this video I split some of the large chunks of granite on my property using a hammer drill and some feathers and wedges.

The drill does most of the work. It's pretty heavy so I just let gravity apply the downward pressure.

I wore a respirator because inhaling granite dust is said to be extremely bad for you.

Once the holes are drilled, I used a 2lb hammer along with a set of feathers and wedges to crack the granite.

I tried to show some of the process in real time for anybody wanting to try this for themselves.

I'll be using these granite blocks to create retaining walls and a small stone cabin on the hillside.
