This is a chemistry tutorial video on how to find the rate law expression for a reaction given experimental data, shown through an example problem worked by hand and shown step by step. The data is typically the initial concentration of each reactant (in Molarity, M) and the initial rate (in M/s or M/min), and multiple trials are listed. This video walks you through how to solve for the orders of each reactant in an example problem both on inspection and mathematically, and will show you why it's important to know how to do a lengthier mathematical set up. It also shows you how to solve for and calculate both the magnitude and units of the rate constant once you have the rate law.

If you would like to see a more in depth powerpoint lesson on finding rate laws, please see the video:    • How to Find the Rate Law with Initial...

For an AP Chemistry class, according to the CollegeBoard AP Chemistry curriculum and course description, this mini lesson video would cover parts of Unit 5 Kinetics (5.2 Introduction to Rate Law: Represent experimental data with a consistent rate law expression.)
