To Make Ground Masala

Peanuts - 1 1/2 Tbsp

Grated Coconut - 1/4 Cup
Onion - 1 No.
Garlic - 5 Cloves
Ginger

To Make Mirchi Ki Salan

Bajji Chilli
Mustard Seeds - 1 Tsp (Buy: https://amzn.to/449sawp )
Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp (Buy: https://amzn.to/2NTgTMv)
Onion - 1 No.
Turmeric Powder - /4 Tsp (Buy: https://amzn.to/449sawp )
Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 2 Tsp (Buy: https://amzn.to/449sawp )
Coriander Powder - 1 Tsp (Buy: https://amzn.to/36nEgEq)
Tamarind Puree - 1/2 Cup
Water - 1 Cup
Jaggery - 1 Tsp ( Optional )
Coriander Leaves

Method:

1. Take peanuts in a pan. Dry roast them until the dark spots appear.
2. Then add coriander seeds and roast until there is nice aroma.
3. Next add cumin seeds and sesame seeds. Roast on a low flame.
4. Once the sesame seeds start crackling, add grated coconut and roast on low flame until they are no more raw.
5. Transfer them to a plate and cool them down completely.
6. Meanwhile, add oil to the same pan. Add the sliced onions, chopped ginger and garlic.
7. Saute until the onions are lightly brown. Transfer them to a plate and keep them aside.
8. To the same pan, add oil and slit bajji chillies. Make the slits as shown in the video.
9. Keep flipping the chillies and make sure they are charred on all sides.
10. Once the chillies are no more raw, take them out and keep them aside.
11. Now transfer the cooled down ingredients except chillies to a mixer jar.
12. Grind them all to a fine paste by adding a little water. Keep it aside.
13. To the same pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and saute. Add the onions and roast until they are golden brown in color.
14. Once the onions are browned, add turmeric powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and mix well.
15. After about 30 seconds, add the ground masala paste and mix everything well.
16. Cook for 5 mins and add tamarind puree. Now add 1 cup of water and mix well.
15. Place the roasted chillies and once the gravy starts bubbling, cover the pan with a lid cook the gravy for 10 mins.
16. After 10 mins, add jaggery powder and mix well.
17. Once the oil begins to separate, add chopped coriander leaves and turn off the stove.
18. Masala Mirchi Ka Salan is ready to be served hot with any biryani or other rice dish or phulka, roti of your choice.

Mirchi Ka Salan is a wonderful sidedish which is usually served with Biryanis. It is made with big size bajji chillies and a nice masala gravy.
