Today is the Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time. In the Gospel, the Pharisees asked Jesus about divorce.
They said “Moses permitted a husband to write a bill of divorce and dismiss her.” Jesus said that Moses wrote it “because of the hardness of [their] hearts,” highlighting that “what God has joined together, no human being must separate.” But his disciples asked him again about it, and so he taught them: “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”
Jesus’s teaching brings us back to the union between man and woman as willed by God. To be faithful to God´s original intention, our stubborn hearts need conversion.
