For me, a "trashy" journal means using papers that I consider 2nd-tier -- things like leftover art pieces, abandoned painting projects, pages torn from magazines, etc. It also means that I don't have to fuss over the assembly. I gather the pages and staple them into a cover made from food packaging. Once it has taken the shape of a book, then it's time to focus on the fun part of adding to the pages and filling up the journal.
This is a work in progress. I'm somewhere in the middle -- I've put in all my papers but want to begin to embellish a bit, adding smaller scraps and such. My plan is to make another video when this one is complete.
