Today I am exploring Charyn Canyon, what many people refer to as 'Grand Canyon of Kazakhstan.'

Charyn Canyon National Park is located 3 hour drive from Almaty and is a popular day trip for many visitors. Within this beautiful park you will find three canyons - Charyn, Temirlik and Bestamak - all of which I will be visiting today! The benefit of traveling alone is the freedom to visit places that most tours don't take you to and the very limited time you have to really enjoy the landscape.
