Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa was re-elected as House of Representatives member from Kathmandu-4.

After his win he said "Thank you very much to all of you who have helped me to be elected as a Member of Parliament once again, to advance the dreams of a prosperous Nepal and a respected Nepalese. Kudos to my dear voters of Constituency No. 4. The love and faith of the people here will not be reduced at all."

"समुन्नत नेपाल र सम्मानित नेपालीको सपनालाई अघि बढाउन, मलाई पुन: एक पटक सांसदको रूपमा निर्वाचित हुन सहयोग गरिदिनुहुने सम्पूर्णमा हार्दिक आभार। क्षेत्र नं ४ का मेरा प्रिय मतदाताहरूलाई कोटी कोटी नमन। यहाँहरूको माया र विश्वासलाई कत्ति पनि कम हुन दिने छैन।"

As per the final results made public on Tuesday morning, Thapa received 21,302 votes.

Who is Gagan Thapa?

Gagan Kumar Thapa (born 19 July 1976) is a Nepali politician and youth leader, who is the current General Secretary of the Nepali Congress. He is currently serving as a Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives, Nepal from Kathmandu since 2008, and is currently in its Parliamentary Committee on Education and Health. He served successfully as the Minister of Health and Population of Nepal from 2016 to 2017.

He was elected for the first time as a Member of the First Constitutional Assembly from 2008 elections from proportional representation. From the 12th General Convention of the Nepali Congress, became Central Committee Member of the Nepal Congress. He won the 2013 elections as a Member of the Second Constitutional Assembly following the failure of the first assembly to promulgate a constitution, serving as the Health Minister from 2016 to 2017. He won in 2017 for the 2nd time from Kathmandu 4
