In this video I explain what the wire above the door is used for. I believe that it was originally designed as a night time shut off lever. That later they came out with the newer design because people couldnt figure it out or sometimes the wires got lost. Clockworks says the same thing in their section "If it will not cuckoo" so I am not the only person that believes this. The video explains why.
