佐敷上グスクは琉球三山統一を果たした尚思招、尚巴志父子の居城跡です。
明治時代に月代の宮が建立されたため、沖縄のグスクには、珍しく鳥居があり、その先に階段、拝殿、そして本殿と、まるで内地の神社のような作りになっています。本来のグスク跡は、月代の宮の本殿の裏にひっそりとたたずんでいます。
高台にあることから、佐敷上グスクからは、中城湾や勝連半島を一望できるほか、久高島も望むことが出来ます。
