Today we are going back into the forest where we discovered many bird species of New Zealand. All of a sudden when the forest is cleared, we found this colorful bird and they are flying around in this beautiful environment. Wow ! what a beautiful bird and it is the Eastern rosella. The eastern rosella is a brightly coloured, broad-tailed parakeet native to south-eastern Australia. It was introduced to New Zealand in the early 1900s and they can be seen mostly in the North Island of New Zealand. It is one of the most colorful parrot found in New Zealand and we are very fortunate to have found them in the pine forest at Auckland.
The eastern rosella is 30 cm (12 in) long. It has a red head and white cheeks. The beak is white, and the irises are brown. The upper breast is red, and the lower breast is yellow fading to pale green over the abdomen. The feathers of the back and shoulders are black and have yellowish or greenish margins giving rise to a scalloped appearance that varies slightly between the subspecies and the sexes. The wings and lateral tail feathers are bluish while the tail is dark green. The legs are grey. The diet of eastern rosellas mainly consists of fruit, seeds, flowers and insects.

It is my earnest hope in producing this video will help bring awareness to the general public about the important of conservation to ensure the survivor of this beautiful bird so that our future generation will be able to see this them in the nature environment.
