Lemont, IL - Re-Dedication of the Danish Cemetery - Community members gather to express their gratitude for all of the groundwork completed to restore the Danish Cemetery to its proper glory. The Danish Cemetery was purchased as a burial ground in 1892 by members of the Old Hans Christian Anderson Lodge #52. It also houses the monument of the Unknown Soldier found on July 1, 1919, in the Sanitary and Ship Canal, wearing a World War I infantry uniform, indicating he was a member of Company H. He was given a permanent home to rest in Lemont, IL.
