Albert-László Barabási was born in Transylvania, but has been doing research in the United States for some time and whatever it is, he easily comes to the recognition of networks. He works at Northeastern and Harvard University in Boston and has published several books in recent years, including Networked - the new science of networks.
He has been working with networks for five years without any tangible results. And although not many people were interested, the scientist was confident that it was a subject worth pursuing because it would have a major impact on science in time. Barabási is a statistician physicist by profession, so he studies the role of chance in complex systems. He was living in New York at the time and discovered something that no one was looking at, namely what real networks look like. He was struck by the fact that, although there were many networks that affected the livability of the city, from the water supply to the electricity grid, all the literature available at the time described these networks as random. But you can't build a city from random networks, which is why the scientist thought there was great potential in this area, and was convinced that the tools of statistical physics could somehow capture the laws behind the apparent randomness.
A good conversation ensued when Sándor Friderikusz, with the help of Albert-László Barabási in 2015, tried to understand what the point of it all was.
