Bringing My Kids Back to Where I Grew Up - Towing Canoe with Motorboat & Portaging into Private Lake:

This past weekend (early May 2023) my wife Tori and I took our kids camping. Our new National Geographic show Home in the Wild has premiered in the US. I decided to take the kids back to the area I grew up to camp, fish, and hike in the places I've been going to ever since I was a little kid. We towed our canoe with a motor boat for the 8km boat ride to a trailhead, a portage trail into a spring-fed, backcountry trout lake. It was quite the ordeal portaging into it, particularly with my son who has disabilities as he needs to be wheeled in in a collapsible wagon. The weather was good and we enjoyed several meals cooked over the fire, Trout fishing, and hiking, including a trek up to a beautiful lookout point. In this video, I share a lot of the beauty of the area as well as some interesting things about nature. You'll probably get a few laughs too. Enjoy!
