Flat stones in your home shop make my list of "Top 10 Must Have Tools" I use them quite often. Before you put your workpiece in a vise or on the surface plate, you'll want to run a flat stone across it to remove any nicks or burrs. But if you don't need tool room level of precision (and cost) then what can you do? The stones you buy from Norton directly are just not flat on their own and will not properly take out the nicks and burrs from your work, they can do more damage than good. You need a stone that has been flattened.

As a follow up to my original video about making flat stones (    • Making Precision “Hobby Quality” Flat...   ) I had a viewer (chrisstephens6673) suggest using a diamond cup grinding wheel. So, I made an arbor (   • Quick Build 5/8 Arbor Shaft for Diamo...   ), bought a grinding wheel and got to it! The results were actually quite amazing. See the end of the video where I test it out on some highly polished parts.

Currently sold out. I have a few of these stones for sale here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/145490182119
