The Casey/Boland Family, Poetry Ireland and Stanford University present a tribute to Eavan Boland on the one-year anniversary of her death.

The tribute takes place digitally on YouTube on Tuesday 27 April at 7.00pm (IST) and 11.00am (PT).

A year ago, we lost one of our finest and truest poetic voices. Over the course of her long career, Eavan Boland became one of Ireland’s foremost voices, not just as an immensely talented leader in Irish poetry and literature, but as an arts activist and pathfinder for women in Ireland, America and around the world. She was an artist of immense influence with an impressive body of work that deftly dealt with the Irish national identity and the role of women in Irish history and civic life.

Eavan was a relentless advocate for emerging poets, particularly those whose work had been underrepresented and marginalised. She was a revolutionary poet, a searing talent, and a formidable artist. To her peers, students, and readers, she was an examplar of courage, generosity, and unfailing friendship. These are only a few of her qualities we wish to celebrate in this short tribute.

Contributors include Paula Meehan, Tobias Wolff, Paul McCarrick, Maria Hummel, Roisin Kelly, Bruce Snider, Dr Jody Allen Randolph, Sarah Casey and Niamh O'Donnell.

This event has been made possible with support from the Consulate General of Ireland, San Francisco and The Department of Foreign Affairs.
