And for a place with only 10,000 inhabitants, Heshun has an amazing diaspora spread out across the world, a fact that has shaped the town in unexpected ways…

While in Heshun, host Jordan Porter meets up with Brian Linden, who restores historical buildings in Yunnan. Together they explore the town’s famous library, learn a 600 year-old technique for making paper by hand and sample a delicious rice cake dish with an origin story involving one of China’s past emperors. Come along with the two of them to learn about this exquisite old town on the border with Myanmar.
