DANA RESERVE NIPOMO | Housing Solutions for the Central Coast - Interview with Nick Tompkins

Join me for a sit down with Nick Tompkins, the developer for the housing development in Nipomo, known as DANA RESERVE. We discuss Nick's past accomplishments as a developer, his vision for Dana Reserve, and his advice for aspiring real estate developers, and how he responds to some of the critics of the proposed development.

Our mission is to bring valuable information regarding Central Coast news, developments, real estate trends, and interviews with locals who are movers and shakers in the community.

"Dana Reserve is a new proposed community in Nipomo that will offer a range of housing types and prices in 10 neighborhoods. It will offer walkable and bikeable living, with multiple native plant pocket parks, a large oak woodland passive park, and fun commercial offerings to meet daily needs. It is more than a subdivision or a housing tract; it is a master-planned community that is designed to support its residents in many areas of their lives.

In 2018, San Luis Obispo County Planning Staff conducted a study that identified the Dana Reserve–known as the Canada Ranch at that time–as the South County location to help meet the County’s RHNA housing needs and move the needle on housing.

That is what this project aims to do.

The Dana Reserve is unique in that its goal from the start was to include as many homes as possible that would be considered homes for the “missing middle.” To facilitate this, there are a variety of housing types in this project to help people find the home that best meets their needs. This includes multi-family, single-family detached homes with shared driveways, single-family detached homes on individual lots of various sizes, and possible ADUs, from moderate to workforce and missing middle."
