Elders and residents have called for an end to the conflict over ownership of more than 4,000 acres in the Angata Barikoi area of Kilgoris constituency on the border of Narok and Migori counties that has led to the loss of lives and property.
For almost 40 years, members of the Kipsigis, Maasai, and Kuria communities residing in the area have been fighting over the highly agriculturally productive property.
Despite the deployment of security officers to the area and the administration's series of peace meetings, the loss of lives, livestock, and destruction of crops and other property has been the norm for decades.
