There are only a few small indigenous groups in all of Nicaragua, with the Miskitos and Mayangna being the largest. They are all over the coastal regions of Nicaragua and sparsed out within the forest areas within Central Nicaragua

Today, I wanted to go deep into the rural towns of Nicaragua to meet the indigenous Miskito and Mayangna tribes. What was life like? What issues were the communities facing? What struggles were going on? These communities are some of the poorest in Nicaragua, which is one of the poorest in all of Central America. I wanted to see the poorest of the poor.

Wasa King is about a 1-hour drive from the city of Rosita, a city in Central Nicaragua known for it's gold and mineral deposits.
