WILL ALEXANDER’s most recent collection, “Refractive Africa” (New Directions, 2021) is a 2022 Pulitzer Prize Finalist in Poetry. Alexander is the author of over 30 works, including poetry collections, novels, essays, and plays. He is also a graphic artist. His collection “Singing In Magnetic Hoofbeat: Essays, Prose, Texts, Interviews, and a Lecture” (2013) received an American Book Award. His other honors include a Whiting Fellowship for Poetry, a California Arts Council Fellowship, and the 2016 Jackson Poetry Prize. He has taught at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, the University of California, and Hofstra University among other educational institutions. He is Poet-in-Residence at Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center in Venice, CA.
