アメリカでは今、アジア系住民への憎悪犯罪、ヘイトクライムが深刻な問題になっています。

パンデミックが始まった去年その数が一気に増加し、今年に入ってさらに急増。高齢者が路上で突き飛ばされたり、地下鉄で差別的暴言と共に頭を殴られるなど、日常生活の中で突然起きるヘイトクライム。

ニューヨークの状況をNYPDが去年立ち上げたAsian Hate Crime Task ForceのCommanding Officer、Deputy Inspector Stewart Looさん、そしてニューヨーク市の人権委員会、the NYC Commission on Human RightsのChair and Commissioner、Carmelyn P. Malalisさんに話を聞きました。
