Scoliosis, corset - so what? Plaster casting was yesterday!

Nathalie and Selina show you how SimBrace® works. This is a process that allows us to simulate how the corset works before making it. Plaster casting was yesterday!

SimBrace® is a unique scanning procedure that we developed specifically for our patients. It allows us to simulate the function and fit of an orthosis before it is finished. This saves time and delivers an optimal correction result.

Using a special device that holds the affected part of the patient's body in the optimal position, a scan can be performed with maximum correction and function. This eliminates the need to make a plaster cast.

What is scoliosis?
Scoliosis (Greek for "curvature") refers to a sideways bending of the spine with simultaneous twisting of the vertebral bodies, which can no longer be fully straightened. This results in the typical picture of scoliosis with the cosmetically disturbing rib mound and loin mound as well as changes to the shoulders and pelvis.

Scoliosis is not a disease per se, but a symptom. It can be specified based on its respective cause. The most common are idiopathic scoliosis (approx. 85%), the causes of which are still unknown, as well as neurogenic scoliosis, which arises due to a known underlying disease (e.g. ICP or myelomeningocele).

In principle, scoliosis can be treated surgically or conservatively (physiotherapy and corset).
