The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) is all set to form the next government in Mizoram after the party secured 27 seats of the 40-member assembly. The party also scripted history by ousting the ever-popular Zoramthanga, the man who, for many, symbolised Mizoram and by absolutely obliterating the Congress. ZPM's working president, K Sapdanga, who won the Aizawl North III constituency by a margin of 1,870 votes said that the victory was expected.

AIFF League Committee chairman and Mizoram Football Association honorary secretary Lalnghinglova Hmar was inducted into the ZPM in May bagged the Aizawl West-II constituency by a margin of 4819. Speaking to EastMojo Hmar said that delivering the promises made to the people will be the priority of the party.

ZPM also gave Mizoram its youngest woman MLA. 32-year-old Baryl Vanneihsangi won from Aizawl South-III constituency with 9,370 votes. She defeated F Lalrammawia of MNF by a margin of 1,414 votes. Speaking to EastMojo, Baryl dedicated her victory to all the women of Mizoram.
