As the assembly elections are around the corner in Mizoram, and the politicians are busy campaigning in different districts of Mizoram. Today we have brought to you some data from the last assembly elections of Mizoram. The state had its last assembly elections in 2018, where MNF came out as the winners.

MNF had secured 26 seats out of 40 seats, whereas, their competitor, Congress got 5
seats. The difference between Congress and MNF was 21 seats. The rest of the parties like BJP which got 1 seat, and 8 seats were won by the other parties.

The seat sharing percentage post 2018 poll was:-
MNF: 65%
Congress: 12.5%
BJP: 2.5%
OTH: 20%

Now let's read some data to know about the demographic details of the voters of Mizoram.

When it comes to religion, Mizoram has Christian population. According to data, the Christian population in Mizoram is 87.16%. Whereas, the Buddist population in the state of Mizoram is 8.1%, Hindu comprise 2.75%, Muslim are 1.35%, Sikh are 0.03%, Jains are 0.03%, and 0.1% goes for other religions, 0.09% people did not state their religion.

When it comes to caste in Mizoram, the data from IndiaVotes reveals that the ST population in Mizoram is 94.4%, SC population is 0.1%, and General is 5.5%.

When it comes to urbanisation in Mizoram, the state has 52.11% urban population, and the rest 47.89% percent is rural population.

When it comes to gender, the ratio of female to male in Mizoram is 976 females for
each 1000 male. Male population in the state comprises 50.6% of the total population, and 49.4% female.

The literacy rate in Mizoram for male is 93.35% and 89.27% for females.


In the 2018 assembly elections, total voter turn-out was 100%. The male voter turnout was 51% and 49% female voters.

18-24 age group had 27.1% voters
25-34 age group had 27.9% voters
35-44 age group had 17.7% voters
45-54 age group had 14.3% voters
55-64 age group had 7.4% voters
65+ age group had 5.5% voters
