Blackberry Pruning;
Blackberries are one of the plant species that can grow in every region of Turkey. Blackberry is a plant rich in vitamins and minerals. Blackberry is a plant that can adapt to all climates except very dry areas such as desert climates, but appeals to the northern hemisphere. Blackberry, being a hot climate fruit, is a fruit that is not resistant to cold. Blackberries are also known as the plant that does not like dry weather during ripening.

Pruning; One of the most important operations in blackberry planting is pruning. Pruning of blackberries is done in three stages;
Picking from the top of the branch in summer
Cutting fruit bearing branches
winter pruning
Taking from the top of the branch in summer; In upright growing blackberries, when the branches reach 60-75 cm, some pruning can be done at the top of the branches, especially in summer when the weather gets warmer.
Winter Pruning; Pruning is done at the end of winter or early spring. In vertically growing blackberries, weak branches and those close to the ground are cut off. Since blackberries are bushes close to the ground, pruning in these types is done to obtain long and strong fruit branches with short strong branches.

For blackberries that are two or more years old, the branches that have produced fruit at the end of the pruning harvest season are cut off close to the ground and cleaned of wires. The next thing to do is to tie the newly sprouting branches to the wires.
