As a fun summer project, I decided to hand input, note-for-note, Rimsky-Korsakov's version of Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain" into my notation program (Sibelius Ultimate) for the purpose of studying the orchestration techniques by immersion. I also wanted to showcase how, even without any further studio manipulation, the Noteperformer playback does a pretty respectable job of realizing the score, including some of the extended techniques such as stopped horns and col legno strings.
