One of our core objectives as a Company is to focus entirely on top of the line products that the professionals use so that you can be certain of the quality of product you are purchasing. This heat shrink product fits the bill perfectly, and Capt. Chris Donato explains why in this video.

This Heat Shrink is one of Chris's hidden rigging secrets that he was happy to reveal through us at GZ as a part of our release of this hidden gem of a Heat Shrink product. We have two colors available to purchase with different dimensions.

Color: Blue - Needle Eye Application (0.245" Diameter)

Color: Yellow - Ringed Eye Application (0.360" Diameter)

Length: 6" pieces - 10pk

Chris explains all of this in detail on the video, but here is Chris on the Heat shrink:

“ Aloha friends, it’s Capt. Chris over here in Kona. I wanted to share with you all via GZ Lures & Tackle a heat shrink I have had great success with over a bunch of seasons.  I was sort of holding it as a bit of a secret of the trade but being that we want you to be able to access the best of the best at GZ, we have now made it available.

This heat shrink is going to be different than anything you have probably used and a few tips here I think that will help you with it.

Application:  It is meant to sit snug and tight before you even apply heat, if you are using a ring eye hook then use the yellow; if you are using a needle eye then use the blue.

To make it easier to apply the shrink over your rigging, I like to use a little drop of dawn soap or lubricant to slide it over connections.

Heating :

I always use a heat gun and start from one end and slowly and evenly work my way down the rig. You want to make sure no air gets trapped in the shrink as it begins to shrink down.  This is why you start from one end and slowly work your way out, letting the shrink push the air out as you go. Make sure you do not overheat or it will burn and break off.

I also like to have a Tupperware full of cold water or a running sink nearby, once I’m done heating the shrink I will immediately place it in the water or under the running sink making sure to hold the rig straight and tight so it stiffens in the right form.

Removal:

This stuff can be a pain to remove because it adheres so tight.  I’ve found the best way to get it off Is with a razor or box cutter.   You can slice it or skim it off.

Those few tips should help you with this shrink, and I hope it helps you catch more and enjoy your time on the water !!"
