The piece is dedicated to the Jewish author Ilse Weber, who was murdered in Auschwitz in 1944. Its lyrics contain Weber's poem ‘Ich sitze an deinem Lager’, which was addressed to her son Hanus, whom she had to send to her friend Lilian in Sweden before her own deportation and was never to see again. The composition also contains excerpts from Ilse Weber's letters to Lilian. There is fear, despair, worry, hardship, bitterness, foreboding, a desperate cry, a last hope in the text and composition. There is deepest sorrow.
