"Girl From Ipanema" (Antonio Carlos Jobim)

Solo Sessions Vol. 2 recorded at Cave Creek, AZ.

Bijan Taghavi, piano

🇧🇷 "Girl From Ipanema" is undoubtedly the most commonly played and recognizable Bossa Nova tune, written by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Yet sometimes it's easy to forget how beautiful of a tune this really is. In this rendition, I aim to bring out the deep lyricism and rich harmonies of the tune as I reimagine it for solo piano.

🎶 When playing SOLO PIANO, you can choose to accentuate the Brazilian groove overtly or convey it subtly through orchestration, creating a subliminal effect and a more lyrical impact that resonates in a deeper way. This creates a fun challenge as the player, made all the more enjoyable with this remarkable instrument.

🎹This was recorded on Dan Delaney's Yamaha C3 piano in Cave Creek, AZ in January 2024 from SESSION 2. This special piano is a pianist's dream and inspires me to explore all the possibilities of sound. But on this particular night, I was particularly drawn into the delicate side of the instrument. I hope you enjoy listening to this special solo piano rendition of Jobim's "Girl From Ipanema".

💿 Stay tuned for my upcoming solo piano album CACTUS SESSIONS which was recorded in 3 Sessions, concluding in May 2024, and set to release in early 2025.
