Trey Haun, 15 year-old, has become the first Ghanaian to ever win a medal at the Unicycling Convention 20 (UNICON) and World Championship, clinching the historic title in the face of a cheering crowd.

According to William Haun, Trey’s father, “Trey first came to Ghana at age 1 & has now been a resident for over 8 years straight.

“Most int’l athletic competitions let participants represent their birth country or their country of residence. Trey chose to represent Ghana as it has been home for half his life,” he said in a tweet.

William made his son’s victory public through multiple tweets that have been retweeted and liked thousands of times online.

Trey (sometimes called Roger) won two medals at the UNICON 20 competition: a silver (2nd) in the 30m Wheel Walk Race (15-16yr Male) and bronze in the 50m One-Wheel Race (15-16yr Male).
