September 2021 saw vintage & classic lorries take to the road for the re-scheduled "Cheshire Run" (it usually takes place every year in April). The weather played kind, and a wide variety of classic British lorries & overseas-built trucks took part in this road run, dating from the 1930s through to the 2000s. We headed over to the half-way stop-over at the Midway Cafe / Truck Stop over the border in Shropshire UK to watch the old lorries drive by, then have a walk around them whilst they were parked up taking a breather, and their owners topped up on coffee and bacon sandwiches.
There were some stunning old lorries in attendance, I was particularly taken by the late-1930s Leyland Lynx, the Bedford OB (of course, who wouldn't be), the red Foden twin-steer lorry, and the eye-catching mid-1960s Mack truck, although I'd have been equally happy to take home any of the older ERFs and Albions in particular. All the vehicles are a credit to their owners who keep these venerable old workhorses on the road, in years gone by there'd be more pre-war commercial vehicles taking part, but I guess that's just the march of time in evidence.
Towards the end of this video I also feature briefly a couple of classic vehicles up for grabs locally - namely a Vauxhall/Bedford MIDI van, and a rare Ford 100E Escort (estate), contact me for details if you're interested and I'll forward on the owners' details.
If you found this video of interest, and/or have memories of lorry driving back when the commercial vehicles shown here were more commonplace, please pop a note into the comments section. Equally if classic lorry restoration is your hobby, let's hear about what you're working on.
There are many videos on this channel now with a classic lorry/truck theme to them, to see all the videos now uploaded (preserved cars, lorries, trucks, vans, barn finds etc) please visit the following page:
