This footage of the offensive on Stalingrad was filmed by combat cameraman Hans Bastanier on color film. The footage was shot with an arriflex movie camera. Bastanier was one of the few German cameramen on the Eastern Front to shoot in color. Some of his color footage was printed for black and white editions of Deutsche Wochenschau, the rest of the footage was classified. His footage is complemented by amateur color photographs of another front-line operator Ernst Frank.
