Cambodia Day Scenes - Sept 2016

Additional Notes:

I booked the mezzanine room at the Artist guesthouse as I was intrigued by the room. I liked the room but wouldn't stay again as it had only one internal window and the clearance upstairs was not bearable for longer than a nights stay for me.

Also the Artist guesthouse is not girl friendly so don't pick this place to stay if you are playing around with the local talent.

Tuk Tuk drivers - My first ever trip to Cambodia was ruined by these guys. In Phnom Penh they are relentless with their pursuit of new customers. By default I now never make eye contact and ignore them completely. It is harsh but if you look like a mark then you'll be running the gauntlet with these guys everywhere you go.

Completely ignoring them works much better than saying politely 'no thank you.' As a last resort get your smartphone out and pretend to take a photo in their general direction and they will soon leave you alone.

Construction in Phnom Penh - This place is really booming at the moment with investment money pouring in. New buildings are sprouting up everywhere like weeds. Prices in the tourist area are creeping up gradually, in a few years Cambodia might not be the bargain place that it once was.

Thunderstorm - I visited in September which is in the rainy season, and sure enough it rained every day. The showers are often heavy so if you are out and about you may need a plan B place to stop by for half an hour or so for the worst of the weather to pass by.
