Ride East & West of the Pecos 2011 - Friday, April 29th through Sunday, May 1st, 2011.

Day 1 - Friday, April 29th - Leave Comstock at 10:30a, I plan to ride over from Castroville that morning, anyone that wants to ride with me I’m going to leave Haby’s Alsatian Bakery at 7a, or we can meet up along the way on Hwy 90. Overnight in Comstock.

Day 2 - Saturday, April 30th - Leave Comstock 8a, overnight in Comstock.

Of course anyone that wants a shorter loop on Saturday can ride the area north of Langtry and / or explore Langtry, Judge Roy Bean’s courthouse and Seminole Canyon State Park.

Day 3 Sunday, May 1st- Leave Comstock TBD. Ride -TBD

Anyone that can’t make Day 1 can meet us in Comstock for Day 2.

Due to the remoteness of this ride I highly recommend you carry at minimum a patch kit plus tubes for front and rear tires (or plugs if tubeless) plus spare levers, cables, spare master link, quick set liquid steel or JB weld, etc. Murphy likes remote rides so I try to carry anything he might like to break.

Comstock Motel, 12 double rooms all with microwaves and refrigerators, 6 of those have kitchenettes, $75 and $60 respectively. According to the lady I spoke with we can probably get a discount if we book multiple rooms. I can arrange that after I get a solid head count. Comstock also has a gas station / store open daily and restaurant open everyday but Monday.

Gas is available in Sheffield and Langtry along the routes. You will need to be go 150-175 miles between gas stations, minimum.

With mileage to be covered both days we will need to keep moving, not faster, just stopping less. There are several bail out spots so if we get behind can take them to shorten the ride, I don’t want to ride after dark even on pavement. We won’t have time to stop from lunch so bring snacks for stops and WATER, lots of water.
