Omar Abdullah has become the first Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir to take oath of allegiance to the Constitution of India apart from Mufti Mohd. Sayeed. Earlier most other chief ministers of J&K had taken oath on the Constitution of the state. Jammu and Kashmir had a separate Constitution since 1957. But on 5 August 2019, with the abrogation of Article 370, the Constitution of the state became infructuous.
