San Sebastian Donostia Spain. Best of San Sebastian from an authentic point of view. In this travel vlog and travel guide, you’ll go beyond the famous San Sebastian cheesecake for a close up look at our apartment, our neighborhood, and a couple of our favorite best things to do when you look for the top reasons to go and top things to see in San Sebastian. Escape over tourism! When you retire, vacation, take a gap year, what's a neighborhood like in San Sebastian? Let’s start this travel vlog with a close up view of authentic neighborhood life in the city center, only blocks away from the beach and old town. Come to our apartment near the Cathedral for Pintxos made from Getaria anchovies used in the Gilda pintxo. Next we’ll do a bit of shopping, taking a look at the breadth of creativity in San Sebastian at art shops, surf shops, interior design shops, and the florist, all not far from the neighborhood and apartment. Have a look at the view of Concha Bay from the Queen’s Palace Lawn. Then you’ll also see the dramatic cliffs and green hills of Zumaia a UNESCO world geological site where you can do an easy short hike with magnificent views of the coast and Flysch rock. End your day with a night stroll to Gros and Concha Bay to see the gorgeous city in a new light. Rounding out the top ten things to do in San Sebastian is a visit to the Chillida outdoor museum sculpture garden called Chillida-Leku. We mention the Cristobal Balenciaga museum too. After watching both parts of this travel vlog (this travel video pairs with San Sebastian Beyond Pintxos), you’ll have an idea if Europe’s hot list destination San Sebastian is right for you having seen the top ten things to do and top things to see in this beautiful city in the Basque country. Both Spain travel vlogs, Beyond Pintxos part one and Beyond Cheesecake part two were both filmed from mid-March to mid-May.

We love to engage with local people and stay longer in our destinations, while we spend a gap year or two as we retire being curious about everything! We’re passionate about travel and food and have been to 44 countries between us! Longing for simplicity and freedom, we put our remaining possessions in storage, and set out with a suitcase and carry-on each. We love slow travel because its a mindset that works whether you have a few days or a whole year!
